Overview
The EN 4199 standard series describes bonding straps used for aircraft. The new edition of Part 003 defines the characteristics of bonding straps with flat braided copper conductors, tin or nickel plated, and terminal lugs, tin or nickel plated, crimped on both ends, for use on aircraft. This standard shall be used together with EN 4199-001. The following modifications have been made with respect to the previous edition EN 4199-003:2010-08: a) the length to width ratio at frequencies greater than 100 kHz previously given in the Scope has been moved to a new Clause 4.1; b) addition of EN 3373-001 to the Normative References; c) Clause 4 "Characteristics" has been newly structured, clauses for length restrictions and cross sectional areas have been incorporated, the new Table 1 with cross sectional areas and tensile strength has been added; d) Clause 5 has been divided into the Clauses "General", "Length", "Terminal selection" and "Mass and resistance", new requirements and values have been added accordingly and the tables have been newly set up, the reference to length and the previous codes for possible combinations have been modified, the previous Clause 6 "Voltage drop and tensile strength" are merged in Clause 5; c) the clause on quality assurance has been extended by a subclause on acceptance tests; f) in Clause 7 "Designation", the composition of the identity block has been changed in accordance with the modifications (length code and terminal variant code). The EN 4199 standard series has been prepared by ASD-STAN, Technical Section Electrics, Avionics, with the participation of German experts of the Aerospace Standards Committee. The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) declared the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD-STAN) responsible for the preparation of European standards (EN) for the field of aerospace. The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 131-04-08 AA "Installationskomponenten" ("Harness components") at the DIN Standards Committee Aerospace.
