DIN EN ISO 9712 Beiblatt 1
Non-destructive testing - Qualification and certification of NDT personnel; Supplement 1: Recommendations on the application of DIN EN ISO 9712:2012-12

Title (German)

Zerstörungsfreie Prüfung - Qualifizierung und Zertifizierung von Personal der zerstörungsfreien Prüfung; Beiblatt 1: Empfehlungen zur Anwendung von DIN EN ISO 9712:2012-12

Overview

In order to receive NDT personnel certification according to DIN EN ISO 9712, the candidate shall provide evidence, at a minimum, of the completion of a theoretical and practical training program which is recognized by a certification body. The training program approval procedure involves verification by the certification body that the content of the instruction adheres to those specifications published regarding the training. Many certification bodies also have a formal approval process in which a training curriculum of a training establishment is appraised in advance and officially approved. A national characteristic unique to Germany is the dual vocational training system. Here, future skilled workers receive a comprehensive theoretical and practical training, which for some jobs also includes instruction in non-destructive testing methods. If these parts of the training program (such as vocational training as a materials tester) are to be certified as theoretical and practical training in compliance with DIN EN ISO 9712, they are also required to be appraised by the certification body. Because of legally established divisions of responsibility, the certification bodies are not able to directly appraise vocational training schools in a formal approval process and to perform regular assessments. Thus, such training programs are approved on the basis of suitable evidence. This supplement provides a recommendation for a uniform approval procedure. In the second part, this supplement gives detailed recommendations on the allocation of minimum training times in various areas involving infrared thermographic methods.
