Fertilizers - Determination of chelating agents in fertilizers by chromatography - Part 1: Determination of EDTA, HEEDTA and DTPA by ion chromatography; German version EN 13368-1:2014
Düngemittel - Bestimmung von Chelatbildnern in Düngemitteln mit Chromatographie - Teil 1: Bestimmung von EDTA, HEEDTA und DTPA mit Ionenchromatographie; Deutsche Fassung EN 13368-1:2014
Overview
Within the framework of the revision of EN 13368-2, the main title of the standard series had been modified. It was therefore necessary to adapt Part 1 with respect to the title. Furthermore, the revision of Part 2 resulted in several technical modifications to Part 1 which was therefore revised. Since the method of analysis did not change, it was not necessary to perform new ring tests. The document specifies a method for the ion chromatographic determination of the total amount of each of the individual chelating agents EDTA, HEEDTA, and DTPA in fertilizers containing one or more of these substances. The method allows the identification and the determination of the total water soluble fraction of each of these chelating agents. It does not allow distinguishing between the free form and the metal bound form of the chelating agents. The method applies to fertilizers containing chelating agents of one or more of the following micro-nutrients: cobalt, copper, iron, manganese and zinc with a mass fraction of at least 0,1 %. The European Standard has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 260 "Fertilizers and liming materials" (secretariat: DIN, Germany). The national mirroring has been carried out by Working Committee NA 057-03-02 AA "Düngemittel" ("Fertilizers") at NAL.
