Overview
Hazard warning systems serve the early warning for avoidance or reduction of personal injury and damage to property which can result from break-in (unwarranted invasion), threat, fire, hazardous gases and water leaks as well as technical defects. Hazard warning systems can also aid defence during pestering/harassment, activation of building service functions (for instance energy saving devices) and communications with persons in emergency situations (call for assistance with communication function) found in the area of the hazard warning system. The warning can take place on both the persons present in the object and/or other places. This prestandard is applicable for planning, construction, operation and maintenance of hazard warning systems for use in residential buildings, apartments and rooms with similar purposes, provided no guidelines ordinances and stipulations apply in which reference is made to other standards (for instance, DIN 14675, the DIN VDE 0833 (VDE 0833) standard series) affecting the scope of this prestandard. Furthermore, basic device and system requirements are described. The responsible committee is Subcommittee UK 713.1 "Gefahrenmelde- und Überwachungsanlagen" ("Alarm and surveillance systems") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
