Overview

For the first time, the DIN 33961 standard series specifies the requirements for the operation of fitness clubs, in particular for customer care. The DIN 33961 standard series consists of the following parts under the general title "Fitness club - Requirements for equipment and operation": - Part 1: General requirements - Part 2: Cardiotraining with stationary training equipment - Part 3: Group training. DIN 33961-1 specifies requirements and test methods for the operation of fitness clubs as well as the operation and equipment for primary and secondary preventative equipment-based strength training. It applies to facilities the access and supervision of which are specifically regulated by the operator. Additional services like sauna, child care, solarium, and so on, are not considered in this part. DIN 33961-1 does not specify requirements for stationary training equipment in accordance with DIN EN 957 (all parts) or stationary training equipment for medical purposes in accordance with Directive 93/42/EEC. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 112-01-10 AA "Fitness-Studios" ("Fitness club") at DIN.
