Stud link anchor chain cables - Calculation principles - Part 100: Commentary on the nominal dimensions of components of stud link anchor chain cables
Ankerstegketten - Berechnungsgrundlagen - Teil 100: Erläuterungen zu den Nennmaßen von Einzelteilen von Ankerstegketten
Overview
The equipment of every vessel includes anchor chains with the associated anchors. The dimensioning of the anchor chains for seagoing ships is carried out as a rule in accordance with the regulations of each recognized classification society. The tables specify the type (chain or stud link anchor chain), length, materials and the required minimum strength as well as the related equipment of the components (for example, enlarged links, end links, joining shackles, etcetera). This standard documents dependencies of the nominal diameter dN for various components of stud link anchor chain cables. The dependencies were presented in a spreadsheet in comparison with the nominal sizes of these components in accordance with ISO 1704:1991. A significant dependency is, for example, the nominal diameter of the enlarged link, it is 1,1 times the nominal thickness of the common link. The dependencies of the nominal diameter were presented for a nominal size of up to dN 48. These data are generally valid for the anchor chain cables of grades K3 and K4. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 132-01-05 AA "Heben, Schleppen, Ankern" ("Heaving, towing, anchoring").
