DIN 83219
Recessed handholes and footholes in chain lockers
Steigöffnungen in Kettenkästen
Overview
Recessed hand- and footholes are holes cut, for example, into the partition walls in chain lockers on ships, they serve as hand- and footholes when entering the chain locker. The chain lockers serve for accommodation of the anchor chains. Rungs and ladders cannot be arranged there as they may be damaged by the chain and the chain may be caught in them. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 132-01-04 AA "Verkehrswege" ("Traffic routes") at DIN.
