This standard specifies product definitions, tests, initial, start of life dimensional, optical, mechanical and environmental performance requirements of a fully installed wall box for up to 288 fibre splices. It covers two environmental service requirements for use inside a building under category C and externally of buildings under category G. The wall box shall be suitable for fixing to a vertical internal or external surface above ground level. It is a housing containing a fibre management system (FMS), splice trays of various fibre separation levels, and one or more of the following components: - storage and/or routing of cables or microducts; - cable storage for transmission or storage of uncut fibres; - passive devices. Wall boxes for connecters are described in the draft standard prEN 50411-3-4.
