DIN 25457-4
Activity measurement methods in the clearance of radioactive substances and components of nuclear facilities - Part 4: Contaminated and activated metal scrap

Title (German)

Aktivitätsmessverfahren für die Freigabe von radioaktiven Stoffen und kerntechnischen Anlagenteilen - Teil 4: Kontaminierter und aktivierter Metallschrott

Overview

DIN 25457-4 has been revised and pooled with DIN 25457-5 "Activity measurement methods in the release of radioactive residual materials and components of nuclear facilities - Part 5: Scrap metal contaminated with alpha activity" in order to avoid double specifications and contradictions. The standard shall be applied to the release of metal scrap (metallic substances) contaminated and activated with radionuclides originating from activities in terms of Part 2 of the Radiation Protection Ordinance (StrlSchV) and intended for use, recycling, elimination, occupation or passing on to third parties as non-radioactive substance. The standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 062-07-46 "Reststofffragen" ("Questions concerning residues") at the Materials Testing Standards Committee (NMP), Technical Section Nuclear Technology.
