DIN EN 1870-10
Safety of woodworking machines - Circular sawing machines - Part 10: Single blade automatic and semi-automatic up-cutting cross-cut sawing machines; German version EN 1870-10:2013
Sicherheit von Holzbearbeitungsmaschinen - Kreissägemaschinen - Teil 10: Von unten schneidende automatische und halbautomatische Kappsägemaschinen mit einem Sägeblatt (Untertischkappkreissägemaschinen); Deutsche Fassung EN 1870-10:2013
Overview
This European Standard defines relevant requirements set out in Annex I of EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, relating to machines which were placed on the European Economic Area (EEA) for the first time, with the intent of simplifying the means of proving conformity with such requirements. Once this standard is designated a harmonized standard in the Official Journal of the European Union, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive (the so-called "presumption of conformity"). This document deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations and events as listed in clause 4 which are relevant to stationary and displaceable single blade automatic and semi-automatic up-cutting cross cut sawing machines with one sawing unit - hereinafter referred to as "machines" - designed to cut solid wood, chip-board, fibreboard or plywood and also these materials if they are covered with plastic edging and/or plastic/light alloy laminates when they are used as intended and under the conditions foreseen by the manufacturer including reasonably foreseeable misuse. Machines designed to work wood based materials can also be used for working hardened plastic materials with similar physical characteristics as wood. For the definition of stationary and displaceable machine see 3.2.4 and 3.2.5. Any work piece positioning equipment fitted to the machine is included in this document. This document does not apply to machines designed for cross cutting logs. This document is not applicable to machines which are manufactured before the date of its publication as EN. The requirements of this document apply for all machines, independent of their control type, for example electromechanical and/or electronic. This standard contains the German version of EN 1870-10:2013 which has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 142 "Woodworking machines - Safety" (secretariat: UNI) of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). The national interests during the preparation were represented by Committee NA 060-06-01 AA "Holzbearbeitungsmaschinen - Sicherheit" ("Woodworking machines - Safety") at Technical Section "Woodworking machines" of the Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee (NAM) at DIN. Representatives of manufacturers and users of single blade automatic and semi-automatic up-cutting cross-cut sawing machines, and of the employers' liability insurance associations contributed to this standard.
