DIN ISO 2954
Mechanical vibration of rotating and reciprocating machinery - Requirements for instruments for measuring vibration severity (ISO 2954:2012)
Mechanische Schwingungen von Hubkolbenmaschinen und von Maschinen mit rotierenden Bauteilen - Anforderungen an Schwingstärkemessgeräte (ISO 2954:2012)
Overview
This standard specifies requirements for instruments for measuring vibration severity of machines. It is necessary to meet them so that inaccuracies of measurement made on the casing of machines, particularly when making repeated measurements for trend monitoring of a certain machine, do not exceed a specific value. The instruments covered by this standard give direct indication or recording of root-mean-square (r.m.s.) vibration velocity that is defined as a measurement unit. Optionally phase measurements may be included. Subject to adaptation of the measurement frequency range, the instruments can be used for other applications where similar accuracy of measurement is required, measurement of vibration velocity of structures, tunnels, bridges, etcetera. This standard replaces standard DIN 45666:1967-02 which has been withdrawn in 2001-12. The following modifications have been made with respect to DIN 45666:1967-02: a) number of the standard has been changed; b) filters defined as standardized third-order Butterworth filters; c) the standard now covers other frequency ranges than 10 Hz to 1 000 Hz; d) the meaning of the term vibration severity has been generalized. The International Standard ISO 2954:2012 "Mechanical vibration of rotating and reciprocating machinery - Requirements for instruments for measuring vibration severity" has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 108 "Mechanical vibration, shock and condition monitoring", Subcommittee SC 3 "Use and calibration of vibration and shock measuring instruments", the secretariat of which is held by DS (Denmark). The German collaboration was carried out by Committee NA 001-03-02 (NALS/VDI C 2) "Schwingungsmesstechnik" ("Vibration measuring techniques").
