Laborgeräte aus Glas - Saugflaschen (ISO 6556:2012); Deutsche Fassung EN ISO 6556:2012
Overview
Filter flasks made from glass serve in laboratories for diverse work under vacuum, for example, for accelerated execution of filtrations; during this process a negative pressure is used in the bottle under the filter so that the medium to be filtrated flows through the filter more quickly. Due to the negative pressure in the flask and considerable temperature differences during the filtration process of hot media special requirements from an occupational point of view shall be laid down for the glass flasks. The standard specifies requirements for the material, construction and pressure strength of two series of filter flasks made of borosilicate glass 3.3. Dimensions, dimensional ranges and tolerances for filter flasks with conical and cylindrical shape have been laid down in tabular form and in Annex A it is described how the pressure strength shall be determined. Other specifications in the standard apply for serviceability. This includes the vacuum connection and the resistance to thermal load as well as to breakage and stability. Finally, marking requirements are specified. The International and European Standard has been prepared upon application of Great Britain and Germany at ISO/TC 48 "Laboratory equipment" and CEN/TC 332 "Laboratory equipment". During this process the chairmanship was held by the German mirror committee of AA "Glasgeräte und Apparate" ("Glassware and apparatus") of FNLa. The International and European Standard supersedes the previous national standards DIN 12475:1996 and DIN 12476:1983 without significant modifications to the previous standard contents.
