Overview

This standard contains specifications meeting the essential requirements set out in Annex I of the "Machinery Directive", Directive 2006/42/EC, and which apply to machines that are either first placed on the market or commissioned within the EEA. This standard serves to facilitate proof of compliance with the essential requirements of that directive. Once this standard is cited in the Official Journal of the European Union, it is deemed a "harmonized" standard and thus, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive ("presumption of conformity"). This part of ISO 16119 is applicable to all types of sprayers used in agriculture, horticulture, forestry and other areas of plant protection. This standard specifies general requirements for the design, performance and testing of sprayers with regard to minimizing the potential risk of environmental contamination during use, It also specifies the requirements for identification of the sprayer and certainty of its components, and the minimum content of the instruction handbook. This part of ISO 16119 specifies the general requirements to be met. It is intended to be used with each of the other parts of ISO 16119, which give requirements specific to particular types of sprayers. It does not cover safety aspects; these are specified in ISO 4254-6:2009. This standard contains the German version of EN ISO 16119-1:2013 and has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 23 "Tractors and machinery for agriculture and forestry" in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 144 "Tractors and machinery for agriculture and forestry" of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). The following major changes have been introduced to DIN EN ISO 12761-1:2002-01: a) extension of the scope; b) updating of the normative references; c) revision of the definitions; d) addition of requirements on losses, indication of pesticide in use, filling, cleaning and servicing; e) modification and addition of new instructions; f) addition of Annexes A and ZA. The responsible German body involved in its preparation was Working Committee NA 060-16-02 AA "Bodenbearbeitung, Saat, Pflanzenpflege und Pflanzenschutz" ("Soil cultivation, seeds, plant care and plant protection") of Section Landtechnik (Agricultural engineering) of the Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee (NAM) at DIN. Stakeholders were involved in the development of the standard.
