Overview
This standard contains the German version of the second edition of the European Standard EN 61000-3-12 and is identical to the second edition of the International Standard IEC 61000-3-12. It contains requirements and limits for harmonic currents produced by equipment connected to public low-voltage systems with rated current exceeding 16 A and up to and including 75 A, intended to be connected to public low-voltage distribution systems. In addition to the requirements, the corresponding measurement and simulation methods as well as - by referring to IEC 61000-3-2 - the test conditions are specified which are intended for verification that the requirements of this standard are met. It does not mean that equipment not complying with the requirements and limits of this standard cannot be connected, although in this case special arrangements with the network operator are necessary. Designs for this purpose can be found in Annex C of this standard. Professional equipment with input current ≤ 16 A per phase and that does not comply with the requirements and limits of standard IEC 61000-3-2 may be permitted to be connected to certain types of low voltage supplies, in the same way as equipment with input current > 16 A per phase and that does not comply with the requirements and limits of the present standard. With respect to the previous edition of this standard, THD and PWHD have been replaced by THC and PWHC, amongst others, and the reference to the fundamental current of the equipment has been replaced by the reference current. The limit specifications have been extended by another table (Table 5) which applies like the previous Table 4 for balanced three-phase equipment unless certain conditions formulated in the standard do not apply. Furthermore, special type test conditions for specific equipment - air conditioners and instantaneous water heaters - have been supplemented in a new Annex A. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 767.1 "Niederfrequente leitungsgeführte Störgrößen" ("Low-frequency conducted disturbance variables") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
