Overview
The standard DIN EN ISO 1043-2 provides uniform abbreviated terms referring to fillers and reinforcing materials. It includes only those abbreviated terms that have come into established use, and its aim is both to prevent the occurrence of more than one abbreviated term for a given filler or reinforcing material and to prevent a given abbreviated term being interpreted in more than one way. The most significant modifications and supplementations with regard to the previous edition are the revision and supplementation of the list of the fillers and reinforcing materials. In Table 1, symbol "A" instead of "R" for aramid has been introduced, to follow common use, and symbol "ME" for metal, to distinguish it from "M" for mineral. In Table 2, symbols "EM" (continuous (endless) mat), "CM" (chopped-strand mat), "LF" (long fibres) and "NF" (nanofibres) have been added The International Standard ISO 1043-2:2011 has been prepared by ISO/TC 61/SC 1 "Terminology" (secretariat: BSI, Great Britain). CEN/TC 249 "Plastics", the secretariat of which is held by NBN (Belgium), is responsible for the European Standard. On the national level, the committee responsible for the standard is Working Committee NA 054-01-01 AA "Terminologie" ("Terminology") at FNK.
