Vitreous and porcelain enamels - Glass-lined apparatus for process plants - Part 3: Thermal shock resistance (ISO 28721-3:2008); German version EN ISO 28721-3:2011
Emails und Emaillierungen - Emaillierte Apparate für verfahrenstechnische Anlagen - Teil 3: Temperaturschockbeständigkeit (ISO 28721-3:2008); Deutsche Fassung EN ISO 28721-3:2011
Overview
This document specifies requirements for the thermal shock resistance of, and heating and cooling procedures for, glass-lined apparatus, components, accessories and pipes primarily used for process equipment in chemical plants. The limits of thermal shock resistance are specified using diagrams. For glass-lined steel, a distinction is made between a thermal shock on the glass-lined side (produced by charging an apparatus) and a thermal shock on the steel side (produced by heating or cooling an apparatus). The standard applies to operating temperatures from -25 °C to +230 °C. It is only applicable to enamelled unalloyed and low-alloy carbon steels. The International Standard ISO 28721-3:2008 has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 107 "Metallic and other inorganic coatings" and has been adopted without any modifications as EN ISO 28721-3:2011 by the Technical Committee of the European Standardization organization, CEN/TC 262 "Metallic and other inorganic coatings", the secretariat of which is held by BSI (United Kingdom). The responsible German committee is Working Committee NA 062-01-63 AA "Prüfung von Emails und Emaillierungen" ("Testing of vitreous and porcelain enamels") at the Materials Testing Standards Committee (NMP) at DIN.
