DIN EN 15973
Rubber- or plastic-coated fabrics - Upholstery fabrics - Resistance to soiling; German version EN 15973:2011

Title (German)

Mit Kautschuk oder Kunststoff beschichtete Textilien - Möbelstoffe - Verhalten gegenüber Anschmutzen; Deutsche Fassung EN 15973:2011

Overview

This standard specifies a test method for assessing resistance to soiling and cleanability of coated fabrics for upholstery. Therefore, test specimens are exposed to the influence of various substances under defined conditions. Three different types of substances are used: - solid soil and dyes transferred by a soiling cloth - aqueous soil - oily soil. After soiling and a conditioning period the specimens are cleaned. The specimens are visually assessed before and after cleaning. This standard is applicable to upholstery fabrics with a coating on the wear face. EN 15973 has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 248 "Textile and textile products", the secretariat of which is held by the BSI (United Kingdom). The German committee responsible for this project is Working Committee NA 054-04-04 AA "Kunststoff-Folien und kunststoffbeschichtete Flächengebilde (Kunstleder); allgemeine Eigenschaften" ("Plastic films and plastics-coated fabrics (artificial leather); general characteristics") of FNK.
