DIN EN 1560
Founding - Designation system for cast iron - Material symbols and material numbers; German version EN 1560:2011

Title (German)

Gießereiwesen - Bezeichnungssystem für Gusseisen - Werkstoffkurzzeichen und Werkstoffnummern; Deutsche Fassung EN 1560:2011

Overview

This standard specifies a material designation system, either by symbols or by numbers, for cast iron. The designation system by symbols is applicable to standardized cast iron materials or non-standardized cast iron materials.
The designation system by numbers is only applicable to standardized cast iron materials.
The use of a designation system by symbols does not necessarily imply that the material is standardized. Cast iron materials can be designated by symbols or by numbers for all grades. The material number is based on the structures and principles set out in EN 10027-2.
The European Standard has been prepared by CEN/TC 190 "Foundry technology", the secretariat of which is held by DIN. Regarding the German collaboration the responsible Working Committee is NA 036-00-04 AA "Geometrische Produktspezifikation und Technische Lieferbedingungen" ("Geometrical product specifications and technical conditions of delivery") of the GINA.
