DIN EN 12629-8
Machines for the manufacture of constructional products from concrete and calcium-silicate - Safety - Part 8: Machines and equipment for the manufacture of constructional products from calcium-silicate (and concrete); German version EN 12629-8:2002+A1:2010
Maschinen für die Herstellung von Bauprodukten aus Beton und Kalksandsteinmassen - Sicherheit - Teil 8: Maschinen und Einrichtungen zur Herstellung von Bauprodukten aus Kalksandsteinmassen (und Beton); Deutsche Fassung EN 12629-8:2002+A1:2010
Overview
This Type C standard contains safety regulations. It contains the German version of Amendment A1:2010 to EN 12629-8:2002, which has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 151 "Construction equipment and building material machines - Safety", the secretariat of which is held by DIN (Germany), at the European Committee of Standardization (CEN). The national interests during the preparation of the standard were represented by Working Committee NA 060-13-10 "Betonsteinmaschinen" ("Concrete block making machines") of Technical Section Construction equipment and building material machines of the Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee (NAM) at DIN. Representatives of manufacturers and users of concrete block making machines, as well as representatives of professional and trade associations were involved in the preparation of the standard. This European Standard defines, in connection with the previously valid standard EN 12629-8:2002, relevant requirements set out in Annex I of the new EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, relating to machines which were placed on the European Economic Area (EEA) market for the first time, with the intent of simplifying the means of proving conformity with such requirements. Once this standard is designated a harmonized standard in the Official Journal of the European Communities, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive (the so-called presumption of conformity). This part of EN 12629, taken together with EN 12629-1:2000+A1:2010, applies to hydraulic machines for the manufacture of bricks, blocks and elements of calcium-silicate (as described in Annexes A and B). Calcium-silicate can be replaced by concrete. This document describes the additional requirements to and/or the deviations from EN 12629-1:2000+A1:2010 specific to the machines it covers. This European Standard deals with all significant hazards pertinent to these machines when they are used as intended and under conditions of misuse which are reasonably foreseeable by the manufacturer (see clause 4). This European Standard specifies the appropriate technical measures to eliminate or reduce risks arising from the significant hazards. Noise and vibration hazards are not considered as significant for those machines. This standard deals with safety requirements and/or protective measures which apply for these machines. Within the framework of the adaptation to the new Machinery Directive, the following modifications have been made with respect to EN 12629-8:2002-12: - modification of the foreword; - modification of the introduction; - modification and update of the scope (clause 1), - update of normative references (clause 2); - modification and update of clause 3 (Definitions) - modification and update of the significant hazards in clause 4; - modification and update of the safety requirements and/or protective measures in clause 5; - modification and update of the verification of safety requirements and/or protective measures in clause 6; - modification and update of the information for use in clause 7; - update of the marking in clause 8; - update of the table heading (fourth column) in Annex C (Hazard zones and requirements for a hydraulic press producing bricks, blocks and elements); - update of the table heading (fourth column) in Annex D (Hazard zones and requirements for a hydraulic press without stacking equipment producing elements); - update of informative Annex ZA on the relationship between this European Standard and the essential requirements of EU Directive 2006/42/EC; - modification and update of the bibliography.
