DIN EN 12629-7
Machines for the manufacture of constructional products from concrete and calcium-silicate - Safety - Part 7: Stationary and mobile equipment for long line manufacture of prestressed products; German version EN 12629-7:2004+A1:2010

Title (German)

Maschinen für die Herstellung von Bauprodukten aus Beton und Kalksandsteinmassen - Sicherheit - Teil 7: Stationäre und fahrbare Einrichtungen für die Herstellung von Spannbetonelementen; Deutsche Fassung EN 12629-7:2004+A1:2010

Overview

This Type C standard contains safety regulations.
It contains the German version of Amendment A1:2000 to EN 12629-7:2004, which has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 151 "Construction equipment and building material machines - Safety", the secretariat of which is held by DIN (Germany), at the European Committee of Standardization (CEN).
The national interests during the preparation of the standard were represented by Working Committee NA 060-13-10 "Betonsteinmaschinen" ("Concrete block making machines") of Technical Section Construction equipment and building material machines of the Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee (NAM) at DIN. Representatives of manufacturers and users of concrete block making machines, as well as representatives of professional and trade associations were involved in the preparation of the standard.
This European Standard defines, in connection with the previously valid standard EN 12629-7:2004, relevant requirements set out in Annex I of the new EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, relating to machines which were placed on the EEA market for the first time, with the intent of simplifying the means of proving conformity with such requirements.
Once this standard is designated a harmonized standard in the Official Journal of the European Communities, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive (the so-called presumption of conformity).
This part of EN 12629, taken together with EN 12629-1:2000+A1:2010, applies to stationary and mobile equipment for the benched manufacture of prestressed products. The manufacturing bed is a machine with which other associated machines work simultaneously. Moreover, these machines are generally used on beds installed in parallel.
This document specifies the additional requirements to and/or the deviations from EN 12629-1:2000+A1:2010 specific to the machines it covers.
This European Standard deals with all significant hazards pertinent to these machines when they are used as intended and under conditions of misuse which are reasonably foreseeable by the manufacturer (see clause 4).
This European Standard specifies the appropriate technical measures to eliminate or reduce risks arising from the significant hazards.
This standard gives particular requirements for the design of the following machines: - pre-stressing bed (schematic representation is given in Annex A); - bed sweeper, vacuum cleaner, oiler, wire-guide machine (schematic representation is given in Annex B); - bed layout machine (schematic representation is given in Annex C); - strand pushing/pulling machine (schematic representation is given in Annex D); - spinner, extruder, vibrodistributor (schematic representation is given in Annex E); - tarpaulin paying out or winding in machine (schematic representation is given in Annex F); - sawing machine (schematic representation is given in Annex G).
The manufacturing operations include some or all of the following: - treating pre-stressing bed with release agents; - "marking out" the elements (slabs, tubes, etcetera) to be made; - transport of pre-stressed strands; - pre-tensioning; - installing the shutterings (formwork; side shutters, end plates and inserts); - fixing reinforcement; - tensioning; - concrete distribution and vibration; - winding out the tarpaulin; - heating; - detensioning; - removal of shutterings, formwork, etcetera; - strands cutting or sawing; - removal of final products; - cleaning of the pre-stressing bed.
The concrete supply interface shall be also taken into account with regard to safety aspects.
The sequence of these operations can be different according to the manufacturing process used in the factory and to the various types of products.
The handling of the cut reinforcements and their placement on beds is not covered by this standard.
This standard deals with safety requirements and/or protective measures which apply for these machines.
Within the framework of the adaptation to the new Machinery Directive, the following modifications have been made with respect to EN 12629-7:2004-02: - modification of the foreword; - modification of the introduction; - modification and update of the scope (clause 1); - update of the normative references (clause 2); - modification and update of clause 3 (Definitions); - modification and update of the significant hazards in clause 4; - modification and update of the safety requirements and/or protective measures including Tables 8 to 14 in clause 5; - modification and update of the verification of safety requirements and/or protective measures in clause 6; - update of the information for use in clause 7; - update of the marking in clause 8; - modification and update of the trilingual list of terms relative to pre-stressing manufacturing products and equipment in Annex H; - update of the informative Annex ZA on the relationship between this European Standard and the essential requirements of EU Directive 2006/42/EC.
