Overview

This Technical Specification applies to surge protection of wind turbine generators and their power systems. Normative references are made to generic standards for lightning protection, low-voltage systems and high-voltage systems in machinery and their installations and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). This Technical Specification specifies requirements for selection and installation of surge protective devices in electric power systems. Some special information about specific testing is also included as currently there is no specific standard available for the testing of surge protective devices. The responsible Committee is Subcommittee UK 441.1 "Überspannungsableiter bis 1 000 V" ("Surge arresters of 1 000 V and below") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
