Overview

This standard specifies minimum requirements and test methods for trial frames for holding trial case lenses, complying with DIN EN ISO 9801, in front of a subject's eyes in order to assess visual acuity and facilitate optical correction of vision. It is also applicable to lens holders mounted on headbands, bracket-mounted frames and frames mounted in the manner of spectacles with supports on the ears and the bridge of the nose. It is applicable to all types of trial frame, including half-eye and rotating lens holders. Refractor heads are excluded from the scope; regarding refractor heads see DIN EN ISO 10341. The standard primarily addresses manufacturers of trial frames and manufacturers of trial case lenses. With respect to edition DIN EN ISO 12867:1998-08, only the normative references have been updated. The standard has been prepared by ISO/TC 172/SC 7 "Ophthalmic optics and instruments", in collaboration of CEN/TC 170 "Ophthalmic optics" (both secretariats: DIN, Germany). At DIN, the responsible Working Committee is NA 027-01-08 AA "Augenoptik" ("Ophthalmic optics"), Working Group "Ophthalmische Instrumente" ("Ophthalmic instruments"), at NAFuO.
