DIN EN ISO 10342

Ophthalmische Instrumente - Augenrefraktometer (ISO 10342:2010); Deutsche Fassung EN ISO 10342:2010
Overview
The standard, together with ISO 15004-1, specifies requirements and test methods for eye refractometers used for measuring refractive errors of the human eye. The standard applies to both instruments with continuous readout and to such instruments with digital indication. It applies only to instruments for measuring spherocylindrical refractive errors. In addition to the requirements for the instrument itself, the standard also lays down specifications with regard to the information to be supplied with the instrument and its marking. The standard primarily addresses manufacturers of eye refractometers. With respect to edition DIN EN ISO 10342:2003-12 the scope has been specified so that the standard only applies to instruments for the measurement of spherocylindrical refractive errors. Furthermore, the requirement, that the instrument shall be accompanied with instructions for checking the calibration, has been included. In addition to the aforementioned changes to the contents the dated normative references have been (editorially) updated. The standard has been prepared by ISO/TC 172/SC 7 "Ophthalmic optics and instruments", in collaboration with CEN/TC 170 "Ophthalmic optics" (both secretariats: DIN, Germany). At DIN, the responsible Working Committee is NA 027-01-28 AA "Augenoptik" ("Ophthalmic optics"), Working Group "Ophthalmische Instrumente" ("Ophthalmic instruments") at NAFuO.
