Aktive Lichtwellenleiter-Bauteile und -Bauelemente - Grundlegende Prüf- und Messverfahren - Teil 4: Messung des relativen Intensitätsrauschens unter Anwendung eines optischen Zeitbereichs-Empfangssystems (IEC 62150-4:2009); Deutsche Fassung EN 62150-4:2010
Overview
This part of the IEC 62150 standard series specifies test and measurement procedures for relative intensity noise (RIN). It is used for lasers, laser transmitters, and the transmitter portion of transceivers. This procedure examines whether the device or module complies with the appropriate performance specification. The procedure is applicable to single longitudinal mode (SLM) lasers. An optional section of the procedure presents a controlled return loss to the device under test, but is only applicable to devices coupled to SMF. The measurement standard provides manufacturers and test laboratories with safety regarding the definition of relative intensity noise and serves as a reference for quality assurance. It refers to the measurement method of return loss according to IEC 61300 and the measurement of the eye pattern parameters according to IEC 61280-2-2. The responsible Committee is Subcommittee UK 412.2 "Komponenten für Kommunikationskabelanlagen" ("Components for communication cabling systems") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
