DIN EN 15025
Copper and copper alloys - Determination of magnesium content - Flame atomic absorption spectrometric method (FAAS); German version EN 15025:2010
Kupfer und Kupferlegierungen - Bestimmung des Magnesiumgehaltes - Flammenatomabsorptionsspektrometrisches Verfahren (FAAS); Deutsche Fassung EN 15025:2010
Overview
This standard specifies a flame atomic absorption spectrometric method (FAAS) for the determination of the magnesium content of copper and copper alloys in the form of unwrought, wrought or cast products. The method is applicable to products having magnesium mass fractions between 0,001 % and 0,20 %. Amongst other things, the standard contains the principle of the method: - dissolution of the test portion in a mixture with hydrochloric and nitric acids - after appropriate dilution, nebulization into an air/acetylene flame of an atomic absorption spectrometer. - Measurement of the absorption of the 285,2 nm line emitted by a magnesium hollow-cathode lamp. This standard (EN 15025:2010) has been prepared by CEN/TC 133 "Copper and copper alloys" (secretariat: DIN, Germany) of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). On the national level, the responsible Working Committee is NA 066-02-06 AA "Analysenverfahren für NE-Metalle" ("Methods of analysis for non-ferrous metals") of the Nonferrous Metals Standards Committee (FNNE).
