DIN EN 13288
Food processing machinery - Bowl lifting and tilting machines - Safety and hygiene requirements; German version EN 13288:2005+A1:2009
Nahrungsmittelmaschinen - Hub- und Kippeinrichtungen für Bottiche - Sicherheits- und Hygieneanforderungen; Deutsche Fassung EN 13288:2005+A1:2009
Overview
This standard defines relevant requirements set out in Annex I of the new EC Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, relating to machines which were placed on the European Economic Area (EEA) market for the first time, with the intent of simplifying the means of proving conformity with such requirements. Once this standard is designated a harmonized standard in the Official Journal of the European Communities, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive (the so-called presumption of conformity). This document describes safety and hygiene requirements for the design, operation and maintenance of lifting and tilting machines used, in bakeries, for lifting and/or tilting a container or a machine with non removable bowl containing dough or pastry and for tipping the contents at the top end of the stroke. The lifting and tilting machines can be stationary or movable and are designed for semi-manufactured products (mixtures of flour, water and other ingredients) or raw material (flour, mixtures, and so on). The direction of lifting can be vertical, inclined or combined and follows a track fixed by mechanical guides or articulated arms. This European Standard deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations and events relevant to lifting and tilting machines, when they are used as intended and under conditions which are reasonably foreseeable by the manufacturer (see clause 4). The following machines are excluded: experimental and testing machines under development by the manufacturer, domestic appliances, automatic mobile equipment, for example, bucket trucks, lift trucks, automatic devices working in automatic production lines (where the initiation of the movement is not due to a human action). This European Standard does not deal with powered equipment that may be provided to assist the mobility of mobile bowl lifting and tilting machines. When drawing up this European Standard, it has been assumed that the machines are not intended to be cleaned with a water jet. Noise is not considered to be a significant hazard for these machines. This does not mean that the manufacturer is absolved from taking noise emission measures and making a noise declaration. Therefore, Annex A containing the noise test code has been supplemented. This European Standard is not applicable to lifting and tilting machines for bakery which were manufactured before the date of publication of this European Standard by CEN. This standard contains the German version of EN 13288:2005+A1:2009 which has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 153 "Machinery intended for use with foodstuffs and feed" of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). The following changes have been made with respect to DIN EN 13288:2005: a) The standard has been changed and adapted with respect to the new Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC; b) An informative Annex ZB on the relationship between this European Standard and the Essential Requirements of Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC has been added. The national interests during the preparation of the standard were represented by Committee NA 060-18-01 AA "Bäckereimaschinen" ("Bakery equipment") of Technical Section "Food Processing Machinery" of the Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee (NAM) at DIN. Representatives of the interested parties were involved in the preparation of this standard.
