DIN EN 12490
Durability of wood and wood-based products - Preservative-treated solid wood - Determination of the penetration and retention of creosote in treated wood; German version EN 12490:2010
Dauerhaftigkeit von Holz und Holzprodukten - Mit Holzschutzmitteln behandeltes Vollholz - Bestimmung der Eindringtiefe und der Aufnahme von Kreosot (Teerimprägnieröl) in behandeltem Holz; Deutsche Fassung EN 12490:2010
Overview
This European Standard specifies a reference method for determining the penetration and retention of creosote in freshly treated timber, principally in order to ascertain whether the treated timber conforms to the specifications written in terms of EN 351-1. It also provides guidance on the acquisition of test samples and their handling between sampling and analysis. With respect to DIN EN 12490:1999-01, an indication for a possible falsification of the test results by migrating creosote and how to avoid this has been added as note 5 in clause 5. Furthermore, the standard has been editorially revised. The Committee responsible for this standard is NA 042-03-06 AA "Spiegelausschuss zu CEN/TC 38 und ISO/TC 165/SC 1 Dauerhaftigkeit von Holz und Holzprodukten" ("Mirror Committee of CEN/TC 38 and ISO/TC 165/SC 1 Durability of wood and wood-based products") at DIN.
