DIN EN 15909
Fertilizers - Determination of calcium and formate in calcium foliar fertilizers; German version EN 15909:2010
Düngemittel - Bestimmung von Calcium und Formiat in Calcium-Blattdüngemitteln; Deutsche Fassung EN 15909:2010
Overview
The European Standard has been prepared under the mandate M/418 given to CEN by the European Commission. It contains a method for the determination of the calcium and formate contents in calcium foliar fertilizers in the presence of calcium chloride. This content is determined and calculated by individual analytical determination of the single components calcium (Ca2+), chloride (Cl-) and formate (HCOO-). The method is applicable to calcium foliar fertilizers with a calcium content of approximately 30 %. Three different analytical procedures are specified for the determination of the components calcium, formate and chloride to be established. The substances calcium formate and calcium chloride are calculated stoichiometrically from the analytical results determined in each case. The calcium content is determined complexometrically from the diluted sample in strongly alkaline solution by means of adjusted 0,1 mol/l EDTA solution and the calcium-specific indicator, calconcarboxylic acid. The formate content is determined isocratically by reversed phase HPLC on the basis of the diluted sample. Evaluation is carried out with external standard. The precision of the method has been determined in 2008 in a European inter-laboratory test with 7 participating laboratories. The repeatability and reproducibility and other statistical data on precision are given in Clause 10 and in informative Annex A. The European Standard has been prepared by CEN/TC 260 "Fertilizers and liming materials" (secretariat: DIN). National mirror committee is Working Committee NA 057-03-02 AA "Düngemittel" ("Fertilizers") of NA.
