Personal fall protection equipment - Descender devices for rescue; German version EN 341:2011
Persönliche Absturzschutzausrüstung - Abseilgeräte zum Retten; Deutsche Fassung EN 341:2011
Overview
This European Standard specifies requirements, test methods, marking and information to be supplied by the manufacturer for descender devices, which include descent lines (hereinafter referred to as lines), intended for rescue and to protect against falls in a rescue system, which is a personal fall protection system. This European Standard does not specify requirements for descender devices that are used for descending in mountaineering, rope access or work positioning systems. This standard serves as a basis for placing personal fall protective systems on the market in accordance with Directive 89/686/EEC for personal fall protection equipment. This shall ensure that a uniform safety level is specified. Test institutes, certification bodies and manufacturers are potential users of this standard. This standard has been prepared under a mandate given to CEN by the European Commission and the European Free Trade Association and supports essential requirements of the EU Directives. This standard has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 160 "Protection against falls from heights including working belts", the secretariat of which is held by DIN. The responsible German Standards Committee is Working Committee NA 075-03-01 AA "Persönliche Schutzausrüstung gegen Absturz" ("Personal fall protection equipment") of the Personal Protective Equipment Standards Committee (NPS) at DIN.
