Our individual health concerns us all and is a prerequisite for a satisfied, self-determined life. To maintain or regain it, in addition to overall health promotion and prevention measures, many areas, such as diagnostic procedures, treatment methods, regulatory assessment of pharmaceuticals, and digitalisation in the healthcare sector must be considered. New ideas and innovative concepts are needed to create the change in the healthcare system and ensure the best possible promotion of people’s health.

Demographic change and the associated aging society represent a global challenge, but also an opportunity, especially for politics, business, and science. Many older people today want to stay active and live self-determined for much longer. Assistive systems can support them to achieve this, but medical care and product development are also challenged to respond to the demographic change.

Especially due to the thematic diversity of the fields of Health and Aging Societies, early consideration of standardization is essential, particularly in research and innovation projects.
