KIOptiPack
Holistic AI-based optimization of plastic packaging with recycled content
The KIOptiPack project pursues the goal of enabling a recycled content of at least 30 % in packaging. For this purpose, practice-ready AI-supported tools for successful product design and quality-assured production of plastic packaging with a high recycled content are provided, validated and transferred to the application in an AI application and data space. This will be linked to the formation of a central network platform for value engineering. The project and the tools developed therein involve the entire value chain from secondary raw materials, material and packaging development, the process design, packaging production to waste collection and processing, as well as consumers.
To ensure that the industrially safe use of recycled materials is successful, it is crucial to standardize the material qualities.
DIN is responsible for standardization within the project and, in addition to researching existing relevant standards from the field of Circular Economy for plastic packaging, will transfer the project results to national, European or international standardization.
Together with the K3I-Cycling, the innovation lab KIOpti-Pack forms the AI application HUB on Plastic Packaging with the common goal of closing the value chain of plastic packaging as far as possible.
