Vienna, Munich, Lyon are creating a vision of the future urban life in century-old city quarters. But, how exactly can we successfully implement 21^st century technology into 18^th-century infrastructure that has continually grown? Smarter Together promises to find answers and tangible solutions to this very question, keeping in mind the overarching task to improve people’s lives and make their cities more sustainable and livable. Smarter Together is seeking a balance between smart technologies and seamless integration into existing structures, people’s lives and the pre-existing political framework, governance and politics. This includes:

• „Urban Living Lab" – Information and participation centers for citizens
• Local heating generators - Integration of solar energy and local energy storage systems
• eCar-Sharing
• Intelligent meters for heat, and continuous data transfer amongst individual apartment units and buildings
• Eco-friendly renovation of existing apartments
