The aim of the research project is to increase the intensity of utilization of unused railway carriages, locomotives and rail freight lines (SGV) by digitizing the train dispatching. The digitally supported train dispatching enables a continuous location of the traction vehicles and their coupled railway carriages. By enriching the digital process data with additional contextual information of a transport journey, a digital shadow of rail freight traffic and associated services is created. This is the starting point for improving process efficiency and identifying further potential in the direction of the industry objective Mobility 4.0.

DIN is responsible for the standardization within the project and will accompany not only a search for relevant standards in the field of rail traffic and mobility 4.0, but also the transfer of the project results into the development of new standards or existing European and international standardization activities.
