WIPANO – Freiformmessung
Standardization of the basics for the point measurement of optical Aspheric and freeform surfaces
Optical components and systems are at the heart of the photonics market, with demanding high-performance optics, such as aspheres and free-form surfaces, playing a key role. For the production of high-quality optics, good coordination between manufacturers of optical components, processing machines for optics as well as measuring instruments for the measurement of shape is indispensable. Current methods of areal interferometry are well applicable for the measurement of plan and spherical surfaces, which is also described in the ISO 14999 series. In the production of aspherical and free-form optics, the control of the shape deviation during the manufacturing process is extremely important, in addition to areal methods pointwise methods are also used, where the latter can be used flexibly but also limited due to time and measurement only at selected points. Nevertheless, in order to ensure a reliable measurement of aspheres and free-form surfaces with point-by-point measuring methods, suitable parameters (combinations) must be defined.
The aim of the project is the standardization of the pointwise measurement of optical aspheres and free-form surfaces. For this purpose, the point-by-point measurement technology used in industry for optical surfaces has to be analyzed with regard to all relevant parameters and in order to develop a suitable description.
In the project "Freiformmessung" the Technical University of Braunschweig with the Institute of Production Measurement Technology (IPROM), SIOS Meßtechnik GmbH, a company for the development and production of precision measuring instruments, and DIN e.V are involved. The project is funded through WIPANO.
