PROBONO

The Integrator-centric approach for realising innovative energy efficient buildings in connected sustainable green neighbourhoods

Objective

The European research project PROBONO aims to demonstrate how technological and social innovations can be implemented to realize sustainable, CO2-neutral and environmentally friendly buildings and neighbourhoods, so-called Green Buildings and Neighbourhoods (GBN). PROBONO wants to focus on the development of infrastructures on the one hand and on social aspects with regard to sustainability on the other hand. Smart technologies and digitalization are to be used to implement this. Broad acceptance of the PROBONO approaches and innovations is to be ensured by involving stakeholders including citizens. In total, so-called Living Labs are planned in six European cities (Madrid, Dublin, Porto, Brussels, Aarhus, Prague), which are to be transformed into GBNs. The aim is to use energy-efficient buildings there to achieve both a positive energy balance and zero CO2 emissions. A multidisciplinary consortium consisting of 47 partners from 15 European countries is working on the implementation of the project ideas and the achievement of the goals.

As a project partner, DIN assumes responsibility for the consideration and implementation of standardization in the project. On the one hand, the project partners are to be provided with an overview of the existing standardization landscape so that existing standards are applied. On the other hand, DIN's involvement also ensures that the reference of innovations developed in the project and project results to standardization is established. Here, the main focus is on introducing the project to existing standardization activities, identifying standardization gaps and initiating new standardization activities for these. In this way, PROBONO is supported by DIN in all matters relating to standardization.
