DIN Standards Committee Textiles and Textile Machinery

Overview

This document is the adoption of International Standard ISO 5232:1989 which has been prepared by Subcommittee SC 10 "Common standards" of Technical Committee ISO/TC 72 "Textile machinery and accessories". This International Standard specifies the graphic symbols and corresponding designations in English, French, Russian, German, Spanish and Italian for textile machines. The graphic symbols dealt with in this International Standard are intended: a) to be affixed to equipment or parts of equipment of any type of textile machine in order to instruct persons who operate this equipment or parts thereof about its operation; b) for the representation of a state, function or company, wherever, as well as in documents such as drawings, files or diagrams. With the adoption of International standard ISO 5232, national standards DIN 63201:1982-11, DIN 63201-10:1987-08, DIN 63201-11:1995-09 and DIN 63201-12:1997-06 will be withdrawn. As part of the systematic review of these national standards, it was noted that, for example, many symbols that were added to ISO 7000 or IEC 60417, as well as changes in the naming of symbols, are not being taken into account. On the other hand, there are no longer any film punch cards for graphic symbols at the DIN or the DIN Media. The national register numbers are no longer valid due to the withdrawal of the standards specified in the normative references without replacement.
