DIN 60009
Geosynthetics - Determination and testing of the interaction coefficient to the soil using pullout test

Title (German)

Geokunststoffe - Prüfung und Bestimmung des Verbundbeiwerts mit Boden im Herausziehversuch

Overview

This document specifies a test method with which the interaction coefficient between geosynthetics and soil in the limit state of the pullout in a pullout box can be determined. The test method represents an application-related method to investigate geosynthetics for soil reinforcement in connection with different, project-specific soils. The results are used for the estimation of the required anchorage lengths of geosynthetics for soil reinforcement. The test method described in this standard shall provide the latter option because interaction coefficients in the limit state are an essential parameter for the calculation of anchorage lengths in geosynthetic-reinforced earthworks. Although similarities exist between this standard and, for example, DIN EN ISO 12957-1, Geosynthetics - Determination of friction characteristics - Part 1: Direct shear test there are still significant differences in the purpose and the means. DIN EN ISO 12957-1 is only intended for a one-sided soil contact in the mode "shearing". DIN 60009 is intended for the mode "pullout" with soil contact on both sides and it supplies the possibility to determine interaction coefficients in the limit state. The Committee responsible for this standard is NA 106-01-11 AA "Geotextilien und Geokunststoffe; SpA zu CEN/TC 189 und ISO/TC 221" ("Geotextiles and geosynthetics; Mirror Committee of CEN/TC 189 and ISO/TC 221") at DIN.
