Sintermetalle - Anforderungen (ISO 5755:2012); Deutsche Fassung EN ISO 5755:2012
Overview
This document (DIN EN ISO 5755:2012) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 119 "Powder metallurgy" in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/SS M11 "Powder metallurgy", the secretariat of which is held by CMC. The responsible German committee is Working Committee NA 145-01-05 AA "Anforderungen an pulvermetallurgische Werkstoffe (ausgenommen Hartmetalle)" ("Sampling and testing methods for sintered metal materials (excluding hardmetals)") at the Technology of Materials Standards Committee (NWT). This document specifies the requirements for the chemical composition and the mechanical and physical properties of sintered metal materials used for bearings and structural parts. When selecting powder metallurgical (PM) materials, it should be taken into account that the properties depend not only on the chemical composition and density, but also on the production methods. The properties of sintered materials giving satisfactory service in particular applications may not necessarily be the same as those of wrought or cast materials that might otherwise be used. Therefore, liaison with prospective suppliers is recommended. This standard differs from DIN ISO 5755:2004-11 as follows: a) the standard has been technically and editorially revised; b) clause 4 "Test methods for normative properties" has been revised; c) informative mechanical and physical properties of sintered metal materials for bearings and structural parts have been included in the relevant tables and a description of these properties is given in a new clause 5 "Informative properties"; d) the tables containing requirements for the chemical composition and the mechanical and physical properties of sintered metal materials used for bearings and structural parts have been technically revised; e) new tables have been included containing requirements for the chemical composition and the mechanical and physical properties of sintered metal materials for bearings and structural parts used for hybrid-alloy steels; f) Annex A "Designation system" has been extended to include information on hybrid-alloy steels; g) Annex A "Designation system" has been extended to include the letters assigned to the alloying element chromium; h) information on hybrid-alloy steels has been included in Annex B "Microstructures".
