Steering gear for vessels - Part 4: Detail standard for submarines; Text in German and English
Ruderantriebsanlagen für Wasserfahrzeuge - Teil 4: Bauartnorm für Unterwasserfahrzeuge; Text Deutsch und Englisch
Overview
This detail standard applies to steering gear submarines in conjunction with VG 85741-2. The general technical-organizational requirements are documented in this detail standard. An essential criterion is the drive requirements of the steering gear. Every submarine, irrespective of the number of rudders, shall be equipped with at least one main and one auxiliary rudder motor drive. The steering gear is among the most important gear for the operation of vessels, the absolute functional reliability of the gear is the top priority. For this reason, an auxiliary rudder motor drive is required for each rudder motor. Depending on the propulsion concept of the ship propulsion system, the auxiliary rudder motor drive shall be designed. Further requirements such as surface protection, marking, installation of pipelines and hose assemblies, electrical cables, electric cabinets, including the rudder motor performance and others are listed. The requirements for testing, type testing, detail approval and also the period of validity of approvals are listed in further sections. The corresponding operating regulations (operating regulation booklets and technical delivery conditions (TDC)) have also been taken into account in the standard. This standard has been prepared by DIN Standards Committee Shipbuilding and Marine Technology (NSMT), Working Committee NA 132-02-01 AA "Leistungserzeugung, Vortrieb, Hilfsmaschinen" ("Power generation, Propulsion, Auxiliary engine").
