Overview
This standard has been prepared under a mandate given to CEN by the European Commission to provide one means of conforming to Essential Requirements of the New Approach Directive 94/25/EC as amended by 2003/44/EC. This standard concretizes Essential Requirements of the aforementioned directive on recreational craft in Annex 1 A, 5.3 regarding safety requirements for the electrical systems, in this case alternating current installations. It provides manufacturers and purchasers of craft with legal security by the highest presumption of conformity with regard to the relevant part of the legal requirements. The requirements of this standard shall be complied with when designing, erecting and maintaining d.c. installations on small craft in order to comply with the aforementioned directive. This standard serves the personnel protection, safety of electrical systems and fire protection on small craft. Users of this standard shall meet the requirements of other standards to which reference is made in this document. This standard replaces draft standard DIN EN ISO 13297:2011 and the previous document DIN EN ISO 13297:2001. The committee responsible for this standard is ISO/TC 188/WG 10, the national mirror committee is Working Group NA 132-08-01-10 AK "ISO/TC 188/WG 10 Elektrische Anlagen" ("Electrical equipment").
