DIN EN 812
Industrial bump caps; German version EN 812:2012
Industrie-Anstoßkappen; Deutsche Fassung EN 812:2012
Overview
This European Standard specifies physical (for example, materials and construction) and performance requirements (for example, shock absorption and resistance to penetration) for industrial bump caps. The corresponding test methods and test conditions are given for these requirements. Industrial bump caps are intended to provide protection to the wearer against the effects of striking his head against hard, stationary objects with sufficient severity to cause laceration or other superficial injuries to self-anaesthesia. Bump caps are not intended to provide protection against the effects of falling or thrown objects, or moving or suspended loads. Test institutes, certification bodies and manufacturers are potential users of this document. This standard has been revised to bring it in line with EN 960:2006. The following modifications have been made with respect to DIN EN 812:2002-03: normative references have been adapted to EN 960:2006 throughout the entire document; the size designations of the headforms have been brought in line with EN 960:2006; the document has been editorially revised. This European Standard has been prepared by CEN/TC 158 "Head protection", the secretariat of which is held by BSI (Great Britain). The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 075-01-02 AA "Kopfschutz" ("Head protection") of the Personal Protective Equipment Standards Committee (NPS). This document has been prepared under a mandate given to CEN by the European Commission and the European Free Trade Association to provide a means of conforming to Essential Requirements of the New Approach Directive 89/686/EEC Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
