Testing of paper - Inkjet mediums - Part 3: Print image quality - optical cancellation, optical density, optical tristimulus values, point image disturbance

Title (German)

Prüfung von Papier - Inkjet-Medien - Teil 3: Druckbildqualität - optische Auflösung, optische Dichte, Farbwerte, Druckbildstörungen

Overview

The standard series DIN 53131 with the title "Testing of paper - Inkjet mediums" consists of the following parts: - Part 1: Cockle - Part 2: Drytime - Part 3: Print image quality - optical cancellation, optical density, optical tristimulus values, point image disturbance. Typical users are manufacturers of inkjet mediums and related institutions. The methods are intended to harmonize the test procedures using different device configurations and printed materials, preferably for A4-sized prints; the definitions of print medium quality, computer hardware, inks or device/software settings have been intentionally waved. The standard is applicable for various inkjet print conditions and methods and serves the comparable evaluation of media properties and the resulting picture quality of test print-outs by inkjet printers. The test results achieved are only valid for the each combination of computer systems (hardware, operating system), user software, test template and software settings as well as print devices and ink, under the specified test conditions. This standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 074-02-04 GA "Prüfverfahren für Inkjet-Medien" ("Test methods for inkjet media"). It is intended to publish an A1 draft to this standard which specifies parameters for point image disturbance. However, the necessary interlaboratory tests are not yet completed.
