Petroleum products — Determination of the compression pre-ignition tendency of motor fuels — CPI method
Abstract
This document specifies the classification of liquid petrol fuel based on an arbitrary scale of the compression pre-ignition index using a standardized single-cylinder, four-stroke, variable compression ratio, direct injection engine operating at constant speed. The compression pre-ignition index (CPI) is a measure of the pre-ignition capability of engine fuels in motor vehicle engines under severe operating conditions. This document is applicable to the entire scale range from 0 CPI to 150 CPI. This document applies to petrol fuel and oxygenated fuels with an oxygen content of up to 35% (m/m) and to fuels up to 100% ethanol.
