Overview
This standard specifies the modified Rockwell hardness tests Bm and Fm for thin steel sheet. The modified Rockwell hardness tests Bm and Fm are used for steel sheet which is so thin that the test piece support is visibly deformed when the Rockwell hardness tests B and F as in DIN EN ISO 6508-1 are performed. It is recommended that the application of the modified Rockwell hardness tests Bm and Fm be limited to thin steel sheet of the following thickness ranges: - Modified Rockwell hardness test Bm: product thickness s > 1,1 mm; - Modified Rockwell hardness test Fm: product thickness 1,1 mm ≥ s > 0,6 mm. The modified Rockwell hardness tests Bm and Fm are applicable to thin steel sheet with hardnesses as follows: - Modified Rockwell hardness test Bm: 50 HRBm to 100 HRBm; - Modified Rockwell hardness test Fm: 60 HRFm to 115 HRFm.
