Criticality safety taking into account the burnup of fuel for transport and storage of irradiated light water reactor fuel assemblies in casks
Kritikalitätssicherheit unter Anrechnung des Brennstoffabbrands bei Transport und Lagerung bestrahlter Leichtwasserreaktor-Brennelemente in Behältern
Overview
This standard applies for the verification of criticality safety for transport and storage of irradiated fuel assemblies or other fuel rod arrangements (for example fuel rod cans or fuel rod sheaths) from nuclear power plants with light-water reactors in vessels as well as for the associated handling operations. The standard contains requirements, which ensure, taking into consideration the fuel burn-off, that the criticality safety is maintained for transport and storage of irradiated fuel assemblies and fuel rods from nuclear power plants with light-water reactors in vessels and for the associated loading and un-loading processes. This standard also includes specifications for the determination of burn-off and for the performance of controls of the burn-off required for the loading of vessels. This standard has been prepared by the Fachbereich "Kerntechnik" (Section "Nuclear Technology"), Working Committee NA 062-07-45 AA "Kritikalitätssicherheit" ("Criticality safety") at DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing (NMP).
