Acoustics - Laboratory measurement of sound insulation of building elements - Part 3: Measurement of impact sound insulation (ISO 10140-3:2010 + Amd. 1:2015); German version EN ISO 10140-3:2010 + A1:2015
Akustik - Messung der Schalldämmung von Bauteilen im Prüfstand - Teil 3: Messung der Trittschalldämmung (ISO 10140-3:2010 + Amd. 1:2015); Deutsche Fassung EN ISO 10140-3:2010 + A1:2015
Overview
The standard specifies a test rig method for measuring the impact sound insulation of construction products. The test results can be used to compare the sound insulation properties of building elements, to classify elements according to their sound insulation capabilities, to design building products which require certain acoustic properties and to estimate the actual performance in a completed building. The measurements are performed in laboratories in which sound transmission via flanking paths is suppressed. The results of measurements made in accordance with this document are not applicable directly to the situation on site without accounting for other factors, such as flanking transmission, boundary conditions, and overall loss factor. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 062-02-31 AA "Schalldämmung und Schallabsorption, Messung und Bewertung" ("Sound reduction and sound absorption; Measurement and evaluation") at DIN.
