Gypsum plasterboards - Types and requirements

Overview
This standard applies to gypsum plasterboards complying with DIN EN 520. It also applies correspondingly to types of plasterboards that have been mechanically processed at the factory, such as pre-cut or perforated gypsum plasterboards. Gypsum plasterboards are particularly used for panelling and cladding, as sheathing boards for partitions and backing partitions as well as for the preparation of pre-fabricated components. Application is covered in DIN 18181. DIN 4103-1, DIN 4103-4 and DIN 18183-1 shall be considered for partitions and backing partitions and DIN 18168 shall additionally be considered for ceiling tiles and panels. The following modifications have been made with respect to DIN 18180:2007-01: a) characteristic building material properties and design characteristics for timber structures have been introduced; b) partial safety factors γM for strength and rigidity properties in permanent and temporary design situations have been introduced; c) modification factors for strength values have been introduced; d) deformation factors subject to the service class have been introduced; e) strength and rigidity values have been introduced; f) nailed timber connections of gypsum plasterboards have been introduced. The committee responsible is Working Committee NA 005-09-10 AA "Gips und Gipsprodukte (SpA zu CEN/TC 241)" ("Gypsum and gypsum based products (Mirror Committee of CEN/TC 241)") of the German Civil Engineering Standards Committee (NABau) at DIN.
