Glass in Building - Design and construction rules - Part 3:Point fixed glazing
Glas im Bauwesen - Bemessungs- und Konstruktionsregeln - Teil 3: Punktförmig gelagerte Verglasungen
Overview
The DIN 18008 standard series, "Glass in Building - Design and construction rules" is intended to consist of the following parts: - Part 1: Terms and general bases (published), - Part 2: Linearly supported glazings (published), - Part 3: Point fixed glazing, - Part 4: Additional requirements for barrier glazing, - Part 5: Additional requirements for walk-on glazing, - Part 6: Additional requirements for glazings accessible for cleaning and maintenance measures (in preparation) - Part 7: Special structures (in preparation). Part 3 controls the use of point fixed glazing. For this purpose, point fixers are differentiated into plate holders led through glass bores and clamp holders which are arranged without boring on the edge or at the corners of the glazing. This part of the standard is only applicable for glazing structures in which all glass plates are arranged in a positive-locking manner through mechanical holding devices. This part of the standard is exclusively applicable to glass infill panes in accordance with DIN 18008-1:2010-12, 3.1.1. This part of the standard controls the use of plate holders with cylindrical glass bores (no conical bores) encompassing the total glass thickness. For glazings securing against falling and for glazings that are passable or accessible for maintenance measures, additional requirements in accordance with Parts 4 to 6 of this standard shall be taken into consideration. Regarding the differentiation between horizontal and vertical glazings, the provisions of DIN 18008-2 are applicable analogously. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 005-09-25 AA "Bemessungs- und Konstruktionsregeln für Bauprodukte aus Glas (SpA zu CEN/TC 129/WG 8 und CEN/TC 250/WG 3)" ("Design and construction rules for glass building products (national mirror committee for CEN/TC 129/WG 8 and CEN/TC 250/WG 3)") at DIN.
