This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 062-06-34 AA "Anforderungen an Heizöle und Schifffahrtsbrennstoffe" ("Requirements for fuel oils and marine fuels") of the Petroleum, Fuels, Lubricants and Related Products Standardization Committee (FAM) at the Materials Testing Standards Committee (NMP). This document specifies requirements and test methods for viscous fuel oils S suitable for use in oil-firing installations with preheaters for fuel preparation, and which require preheating for transport, storage and combustion. Preheating is required for transport, storage and combustion. Mixing of fuel oils S in accordance with this document with other fuel oils not manufactured from mineral oils shall be avoided. This standard is not applicable for marine fuels.
