This document (EN ISO 14906:2012) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 289 "Leather", the secretariat of which is held by UNI (Italy). The responsible national committee is Working Committee NA 062-05-51 AA "Anforderungen und physikalische Prüfverfahren für Leder und seine Ausgangsprodukte" ("Requirements and physical test methods of leather and ...") at the Materials Testing Standards Committee (NMP). This document was prepared by CEN/TC 289 "Leather" in order to provide the leather and the automotive industries with methods to be used for testing on which sellers and buyers can base their specifications and negotiations. This document gives guidelines to select the test methods to assess the performance of leather for automotive. This document specifies the sampling and conditioning procedures of specimens. This standard differs from DIN CEN/TS 14906:2005-01 as follows: a) the prestandard status has been changed to that of a full standard; b) the scope has been limited to test methods; c) clause 7 now includes two tables with the parameters to be tested (fundamental properties in Table 1 and complementary properties in Table 2); d) Annex A has been deleted.
